Welcome to Jones Elementary Paideia Magnet School

Dear Jones Paideia Parents,

I am very excited about being the principal at Jones Paideia Magnet School.  I am looking forward to working with you and your child/children.  We serve students in kindergarten through fourth grades. Jones is filled with knowledgeable, compassionate teachers, students and parents.  Our goal is to make Jones Paideia Magnet School the best elementary school in MNPS.  We believe school, home, and community should make every effort to create the best learning environment for ALL students.

Teachers at Jones Paideia try hard to actively engage students in their own learning process by using instructional strategies geared to the needs of the students.  We use seminars and Socratic questioning to develop students thinking skills and to foster an appreciation of different ideas and values.  Students have the opportunity to share their learning through a series of coached projects that engage them in problem solving and the application of various learned skills.  These strategies follow and embed the Paideia philosophy throughout all areas of student’s learning.

Jones Paideia Magnet School is a marvelous place to be!  We truly believe that we are the BEST elementary school in this metropolitan area.  We invite you to visit Jones Paideia and take part in our wonderful learning community.  We are proud of our school; we ask you to share in our enthusiasm for learning.

Sincerely,

Debra M. Smith
