Welcome to Jones Elementary Paideia Magnet School

Dear Parents,
How much time do you and your child read each week? Is your child spending a lot of time on the computer, playing video games, or watching television? Of the various things you can do to reinforce learning, assisting your child learn to love reading may be the most important.
Reading is a foundation of success in school and in our life. The ability to read and write is necessary because it helps us master other subjects. Children who enjoy reading will continue to grow academically each year.
Researchers say that children who spend 30 minutes a day reading books, magazines, and newspapers are more likely to become good readers and do better in school. As parents, we have an important role to play in helping our children become lifelong learners. Reading aloud to your child is one of the best ways to help them develop a love of books. I hope you will read with your child daily and encourage your child to spend time reading each day.
